2008/2009 CASE-Approved Student Contract & Student Protection Scheme

All students must enter into the CASE-approved student contract, as part of the CaseTrust for Education certification. Certified schools would have in place proper systems and practices to look after the welfare and interest of international students in Singapore.

Under the CaseTrust certification, schools must implement the Student Protection Scheme (SPS) that serves to protect the students’ fees in the event that a private school is unable to continue operations due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure.

GEOS Language Centre has chosen the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) as its SPS. Tuition fees paid to the school will be left in the custody of Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), a CASE-endorsed bank participating in the scheme, which will be disbursed on a regular basis to the school when specified conditions for its release have been met.

All international students must be covered by the SPS, whilst local students may choose to opt-into this scheme.

Fees

GEOS Language Centre aims for clear, transparent and accurate charging of all its fees, including any non-tuition fees to be incurred in the process of registration and enrollment and in the course of study. Tuition fees are indicated in the course outlines. Non-tuition fees on a per-student basis are as follows:

Non-Tuition Fees - General

Registration fee S$53.50
Textbook fee S$32.10 – S$171.20 per term (depending on course and level)
Photocopy fee S$10.70 – S$21.40 per term (if text is unavailable)

Non-Tuition Fees - Accommodation

Homestay placement fee S$214
Home stay fee S$214 – S$374.50/week (depending on single/twin-share, facilities and host family)
Hostel fee S$500 – S$1200/month (depending on room-share, facilities, amenities and hostel)
Airport greeting fee S$128.40 (weekdays 9am – 8pm)/S$214 (weekdays 8pm – 9am, Saturdays & Sundays)

Non-Tuition Fees – Student’s Pass

Student’s Pass processing fee, Sponsorship Fee, Approval fee S$535

All fees are inclusive of 7% GST

 

Payment

Payment must be made in Singapore dollars. Demand draft and cheques drawn on a Singapore-dollar denominated account are welcome. Otherwise, fees are to be remitted via telegraphic transfer. Do note that bank commissions, remittance fees and other bank charges are to be borne by the students.

Withdrawal/Transfer Policy

Notice of withdrawal and/or transfer from an existing course must be done in writing, and received no less than fourteen (14) days before the last desired day of class.

The school will issue a letter for the cancellation of student’s pass before the last day of class. The student must within three (3) days’ of course end proceed to ICA (Immigration and Checkpoints Authority) to cancel his/her student’s pass.

Refunds will be processed within thirty (30) days of receipt of the withdrawal or transfer letter, and will be according to the refund guidelines listed below.

 

Immediate Withdrawal

The student shall be entitled to immediately withdraw from the Course by giving written notice to GEOS Language Centre of his/her intention to do so under the following circumstances:

  • The school fails, for any reason, to commence the Course on the Commencement Date;
  • The school fails, for any reason, to complete the Course by the Completion Date, with the exception of course extension due to make-up lessons;
  • The school terminates the Course for any reason prior to the completion of the Course; or
  • The school is in material breach of its obligations under the CASE-approved student contract.

In such an event, the school will refund within thirty (30) days of receipt of the withdrawal letter, the entire amount of the tuition fees.

 

Refund Policy

Refunds to the students will be processed within thirty (30) days’ after receipt of the student’s written notice of withdrawal or transfer.

Tuition Fees

  • If written cancellation or withdrawal is received 28 days or more prior to course commencement, 100% refund of tuition fees will be made.
  • If written cancellation of the enrollment is received less than 7 days prior to commencement of the course, a refund of 75% of tuition fees will be made.
  • There will be no refunds once course commences.
  • However if the student’s pass application is rejected by ICA, a pro-rated refund of tuition fees will be made, less 20% for administrative charges.
